JOHANNESBURG: Supernews, South Africa's newest alternative news platform recently launched its first ever Street Pole Advertising campaign, which saw the new service take possession of Johannesburg's premium sites.
The street pole advertisements could be seen lining main roads and busy intersections along Beyers Naude Drive, Hendrik Potgieter Road, Jan Smuts Avenue, Sandton Drive, Witkoppen Road, Ontdekkers Road and Rivonia Road to name a few.
This campaign, which was conceived and created by Supernews, features striking design and headlines such as 'Change the headlines, Change South Africa', 'Bad news sells, we don't buy it', 'Write the headline, Right the world' and 'Report the news from a new perspective'. The aim of these arresting street pole advertisements was to both educate the public about an alternative, uplifting and solution-driven news platform, as well as to motivate ordinary citizens to pick up their cameras or cell phones and report the news from a different perspective than that of the mainstream media.
In support of this distinctive campaign, ADreach made the decision to sponsor the media rental, to the value of more than R600 000.
Gina Levy, founder of Supernews, said, "We had never explored the option of outdoor advertising before. However, we needed a more visible platform, especially if we intended to become a force to be reckoned with, and street pole advertising seemed the perfect fit.
"Working with ADreach was a very open and collaborative experience. It was also a great opportunity to work alongside CEO, Brad Fisher, as we share the same passion for South Africa, and for keeping South Africans positive about the country and their future in it."
According to Brad Fisher, CEO and founding member of the ADreach Group, "As South Africans we tend to be bombarded by bad news on a daily basis. With this great and positive initiative, ordinary citizens and residents are given the unique opportunity to get proactively involved in the advancement of this country. For this reason, we at ADreach feel honoured and proud to have been a part of it.
