 NEW DELHI: Converge Communications, a specialist in OOH advertising has appointed Mohan Thapa as the associate vice president for its OOH vertical. A veteran with a prolific career and achievements, Thapa moves to Converge Communications from Videocon Telecommunications Ltd., where he was head - marketing communications, Mumbai Circle.
Thapa brings with him over 17 years of experience handling a gamut of responsibilities in planning and executing some of the most successful and well acclaimed campaigns. During his career, he has worked with some of the renowned brands across various verticals.
Beginning his career with Chateau Windsor Hotel, Mumbai, Thapa steadily climbed the professional ladder to become the business development manager at Laqshya Media Pvt. Ltd., one of the biggest OOH media companies in India.
Prior to his stint with Videocon Telecommunications Ltd, Thapa has worked with Ogilvy Action – Delhi (a division of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Network World wide) as account director, where he was responsible for communication strategy development, planning and implementation of campaigns for some of the preeminent clients, including Vodafone, ICICI Prudential, Hindustan Unilever, HSBC, Barclay Bank and Nestle.  Commenting on Thapa's appointment, Amitabh Sanyal, managing partner, Converge Communications, said, “We heartily welcome Mr. Thapa and wish him the very best for this new role. My priorities in this new role would include leveraging expertise in planning and executing campaigns aimed at winning the trust of our valued customers and strengthening our brand image.” Thapa is a Commerce graduate from Himachal Pradesh University and has completed Masters in Business Administration from Amity University. As a student, he was actively involved in co-curricular activities having played football and hockey. Thapa also led the NCC troupe of GSSS Solan and was selected the best cadet from Himachal at the Republic Day Parade, New Delhi in 1986.
